Sifford, Ethel Martin

Ethel Martin Sifford, 89, of Parrott, passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2011′, at her home with her loving family at her side. Ethel was retired from Radford University. She leaves a legacy that will touch all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walt Sifford; and son, Merrill Sifford. She is survived by a son, Walter (Doug) Sifford and Brenda; sister, Ruth Griffith, from Pensacola, Fla.; grandsons, Brian Bainbridge, of Bluefield, W.Va., Brian Sifford (Shannon), Darrell Sifford (Donetta), of Parrott, and David Sifford, of Radford; granddaughters, Michelle Thompson, of Rocky Mount, and Angel Bainbridge, of Parrott; 11 greatgrandchildren; special friends, Annie Whittaker, and Charles and Helen Brown; and numerous other friends. A special thank you to the staff of Good Samaritan Hospice for their special love and care and to preacher Theresa for her special visits with Ethel. The family will receive friends on Monday, May 16, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Parrott Methodist Church. Funeral Services will be held at noon on Tuesday, May 17, 2011, at the church with the Reverend Theresa Tolbert officiating. Interment will follow at Sifford Cemetery in Parrott. DeVilbiss Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
