Shupe, Pastor Sammy
Pastor Sammy Shupe, 61, of Newport, Va., went to be with the Lord on January 27, 2010. He was the son of the late Matthew and Ruby Shupe of Boissevain, Va. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Vernon. He is survived by his loving, devoted wife of 42 years, Georgia; his beloved daughters, Angela Mathias and husband, Dan, and Khristi Moore and husband, Christopher; cherished grandsons, hunting buddy Hunter Mathias, and his namesake, Sammy Moore; his favorite hairdresser, nine year old granddaughter, Sydney Moore; siblings and spouses, Lorene and Mac Fisher, Brenda and Sayford Allen, Fern and Earl Echols, Kathleen and Doug Criner, Timmy and Sally Shupe, and Coy and Terry Shupe; and numerous nieces and nephews. He retired from Alliant Tech Systems with 34 years of service and was a graduate of Bluefield College of Evangelism. He pastored at New Hope Church at Craigs Creek. He is well-loved and will be greatly missed by all who know and love him. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 30, 2010, at Alleghany Church of Christ in Christiansburg with Pastors Porter Riner and Terry Hodge officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. on Friday, January 29, 2010, at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, SW, Blacksburg, Va. Memorial contributions can be made to Craig County Cancer Center, Newport Rescue Squad, or St. Jude Children’s Hospital. “A light from our family is gone. A voice we love is stilled.
