Shumate, Florence Bradley

Florence Bradley Shumate, 90, of Radford, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, June 26, 2012. She was a member of Unity Christian Church in Radford. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edsel Nathan Shumate, and son-in-law, Carter Effler. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Alban E. and Phyllis Shumate of Radford; daughter, Janet Effler of Radford; sister, Ruth McDowell of Roanoke, VA; grandchildren and their spouses, Rebecca Shumate of Roanoke, Mark and Linda Shumate of Radford, John and Niki Shumate of Shawsville, Lee and Sharon Effler of Radford, Debra Taylor of Radford, Scott Effler and Geoff of San Fransico, CA; and great-grandchildren, Karlie, Lauren, Katie, Brad, Nathan, Marianna and Meagan; numerous neices and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 29, 2012 at 11:00 am at the Unity Christian Church in Radford with Rev. Gina Rhea and Rev. Bobby Sutphin officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunrise Burial Park in Radford. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford.
