Shumate, Clyde Daniel

Clyde Daniel (Dan) Shumate, 60, of Dublin, Va., died early Saturday morning, October 9, 2010, in the Highland Ridge Nursing Home, Dublin. He was born in Mebane, N.C., on September 17, 1950, and was the son of Lawrence John Shumate and Eula Alene Lineberry.

Surviving are his daughter, Tracie Gusler, of Kernersville, N.C.; son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Paula Shumate, of Stokesdale, N.C.; sister, Linda Sue Shumate, of Austinville, Va.; grandchildren, Jacob Andrew Cook, of Pulaski, Va., and Eric Dylan Cook, of Kernersville, N.C.; three nieces; and one nephew.

Mr. Shumate will be cremated. A Memorial Service will be held 7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 12, 2010, from the Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, Pulaski with the Rev. Don Sizemore officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening at Stevens Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6 until 7 p.m.
