Shrader, Lillie Elmore
Lillie Elmore Shrader, 94, of Blacksburg, and formerly of Narrows, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 20, 2011, at LewisGale Hospital Montgomery in Blacksburg. She was born at Waiteville, W.Va., on July 21, 1916, and was the daughter of the late Lavester and Sarah Simpkins Elmore. In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Carmel Shrader; two brothers, Harvey Elmore and Russell Elmore; and a sister, Nannie Elmore. She was a retired employee of Celanese Acetate in Narrows with nearly 40 years of service. A devoted wife, mother, daughter, and sister, Lillie loved her family deeply and was a strong woman of faith, attending Valley Presbyterian Church in Narrows for many years. She also loved flowers, quilting, knitting and helping others. She will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Daniel Ray Elmore, of Blacksburg; a brother, Edward Elmore and wife, Sherry; four sisters, Mamie Philpott, Margaret St.Clair, Ellen Elmore and Phyllis Lyon; a sister-in-law, Martha Elmore; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and many special friends. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 23, 2011, in the chapel of Riffe’s Funeral Service in Narrows with the Rev. Shirley Larson officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg.
