Arthur J. Shrader, 88, of Rich Creek and formerly of Pearisburg, Va., passed away Saturday, December 8, 2007 at Carilion Giles Memorial Hospital in Pearisburg.

Born June 8, 1919 in Giles County, he was the son of the late Lee and Flossie Fizer Shrader. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Elizabeth Shrader; a daughter, Jacqueline Shrader and four brothers, Cecil, Arnold, John, and Verlin Shrader.

Mr. Shrader was a World War II, United States Army veteran, a faithful member of the Lindside Christian Church and had worked construction as a crane and shovel operator.

Survivors include one son; Arthur “Chip” Shrader, Jr. and wife, Becky of Blacksburg; two daughters, Barbara F. McDaniel and husband, Sam and Joan E. Snow and husband, Bill, all of Peterstown; one brother, Granville Shrader of Narrows; ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 11, 2007 at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel in Peterstown, with Minister Henry Conley officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at the Shrader Family Cemetery, located in the Wolf Creek community of Narrows, Va. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
