Shortt, Gayle King
Gayle King Shortt, 61 of Dublin, VA passed away on March 3, 2023 at Highland Ridge Rehabilitation Center with her friends and family by her side.
She is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, David Shortt; daughter, Lori Saul; son-in-law, John Saul; grandson, JD Saul; mother Phyllis King; and sisters, Teresa King and Joann Peck.
She is preceded in death by her father, Joseph King; brother-in-law, James Peck; and nephew, Joshua Rosenbaum.
Gayle was a nurse for 28 years and served her community to the fullest of her ability. She will be greatly missed.
A Celebration of Life will be arranged in the Spring with family and friends. In lieu of flowers and gifts, the family requests that you do something kind to support local healthcare providers in our community in her honor. Special thanks to Highland Ridge Rehab Center, Good Samaritan Hospice, and a truly amazing nurse at Lewis Gale Medical Center-Salem named Whitney; all of the above made this journey a peaceful, meaningful, and dignified process. We can’t thank you all enough.

Having worked with Gail at Lewis-Gale Pulaski Hospital for many years, I found her to be one of the most pleasant, as well as professional, people that I have ever met. My sincere condolences go out to David and all of her family.
