Short, David Lee

David Lee Short, 63, of Eggleston Road, Eggleston, Va. departed this life Thursday evening, May 26, 2016 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, Va. Born in Pearisburg on February 18, 1953, he was a son of the late Ennis Edward Sr. and Juanita Ruth Price Short.

He was employed with Industrial Fire Protection as District Manager. David was a member and deacon at Riverview Baptist Church in Ripplemead, Va. For over thirty years he and his family lived in Brunswick Co., N.C. where he served as deacon and Sunday School Director at Town Creek Baptist Church for over twenty years, served as fire chief at Winnabow Volunteer Fire Department and was retired from DuPont at Leland, N.C. with over thirty years service.

He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of forty-four years, Jeannie Ann Sarver Short; his son and daughter-in-law, David Lee Jr. and Caroline Short of Leland, N.C.; his grandchildren, Cameron Short and Peyton Short of Leland, N.C.; his brother and sister-in-law, Ennis E Short Jr. and Christine of Goose Creek, S.C.; his sister and brother-in-law, Delores and Ernie Long of Leland, N.C.

Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. conducted Sunday, May 29, 2016 in Riverview Baptist Church on Big Stony Creek Road, Ripplemead, Va. with Pastor Shahn Wilburn officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the services.
