Rosetta Mae Shockley, age 78, passed away on Tuesday, December 22, 2020, at the Lewis Gale Montgomery Hospital in Blacksburg, VA. Born March 13, 1942, in Bel Air, MD, she was the daughter of the late Charles Franklin and Elizabeth Lee Grover Wagner.

Rosetta worked as a server in the food industry. She enjoyed meeting hikers and repeat hikers from the Appalachian Trail. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and sister who will be missed dearly.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Clifford Shockley; two brothers, Pete and Michael Wagner; and six sisters, Virginia, Mary, Margaret, Dorothy, Betty, and Irene. Survivors include four sons, Richard Shockley of Santa Rosa, CA, Jimmy Shockley and wife Cindy of Richmond, VA, Wesley Shockley of Dublin, VA, and Daniel Shockley and Karen of Pearisburg, VA; two daughters, Wanda Schwinn and Gloria Shockley, both of Glen Burnie, MD; one sister, Irene White of Brick Township, NJ; nine grandchildren, Vanessa, Elizabeth, Alexis, Brandy, Abigail, Ben, Sarah, Alexa, and Grace; and five great grandchildren, Taylor, Ashley, Nicholas, James, and Nova.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Sunday, December 27, 2020, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel in Peterstown, WV, with Barry Harper officiating. Burial will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Rich Creek, VA. Visitation will be from 1:00PM until time of services on Sunday at the funeral home.

Due to the regulations associated with COVID-19 and the WV Governor’s mandate, those attending the graveside services shall wear a mask and practice social distancing.
