James Bernard (J.B.) Shockley, 69, of Pulaski, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 2, 2008, at New River Valley Medical Center.

He was born March 21, 1939, at Hillsville, Va., the son of Maggie Cochran Shockley and the late Everett Shockley. He worked 42 years at Poly-Scientific.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy Page Stafford Shockley, of Pulaski; his mother, Maggie Cochran Shockley, of Hillsville; two stepsons, Steve Stafford and wife, Lisa, of Pearisburg, and Brian Stafford and wife, Lori, of Pearisburg; one stepdaughter, Cynthia Stafford, of Pearisburg; and fiance, Steve Chandler; two brothers, Dennie Shockley, of Hillsville, and Ernie Shockley, of Hillsville; five stepgrandchildren; and two step great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, July 4, 2008, at the Bearspring United Methodist Church with the Rev. Chip Neely officiating. Burial in the Hamblin Cemetery.

The visitation will be held after 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 3, 2008, at A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home, White Gate and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
