Larry Jasper (Spike) Sherman, 73, of Wake Forest, went to his Heavenly home on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at Heritage Hall Nursing Home. Larry was born in Wakeforest, Va. on November 27, 1941 to the late Wallace “Jack” Sherman and Hazel Sherman Choate. He was preceded in death by infant twin brothers, and James Edward Milton; niece, Shelia.

He is survived by brother, Kenneth and Constance Sherman, of Radford,; sister Teresa Brown and Edwin Nazare, of Wakeforest; nephews, Marvin, of Washington, DC, Kevin and Jennifer, of West Lafayette, Ind, Jason and Jonathan; niece, Renee all of Washington, DC, as well as a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins; goddaughter, Christina; a special friend, Ms. Patricia Thompson, of New River.

Larry attended Christiansburg Institute and retired from Hercules, Inc. in 2013 as well as Walmart, Christiansburg. Larry gave his life to the Lord and was a member of New Pentecostal United Holy Church, Wakeforest.

Funeral Services will be conducted at noonSaturday, December 6, 2014 in the Blacksburg Baptist Church, 550 North Main, Blacksburg, with Elder Leroy C. Parson, Sr, officiating.  Interment will follow in the Wakeforest Cemetery, McCoy.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the New Pentecostal United Holy Church, c/o Ada Ernestine Sherman, 2210 Big Falls Road, Blacksburg, VA 24050.  The family will receive friends Friday evening, December 5, 2014 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, SW, Blacksburg.
