Sheppard Sr., Roy Lee

Roy Lee Sheppard Sr., 72 , of Christiansburg, died Friday, November 21, 2008, at his home. He was born in Montgomery County, Va., on March 5, 1936, to the late James Earnest and Ethel Nancy Hutchison Sheppard. He is survived by his wife, Helen A. Sheppard, of Christiansburg; daughters, Alice Altizer and husband, Sam, and Sally Sheppard, both of Christiansburg; stepdaughter, Belinda Linkous and husband, Anthony, of Blacksburg; sons, Roy Lee Sheppard Jr. and wife, Betty, of Blacksburg, Phillip James Sheppard, of Christiansburg, and Oscar Earnest Sheppard, of Newport; sisters, Nora Bell Cromer, of Christiansburg, Carola Blankenbeckler, of Charlottesville, Va.; brother, Jack Sheppard, of Dublin; 13 grandchildren and 12 greatgrandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, November 24, 2008, in the Mausoleum at Roselawn Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Homer Sawyer and Pastor Mike Johnston officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2840 Electric Road, Suite 106A, Roanoke, Va. 24018 or Carilion Hospice of NRV, 707 Randolph St., Suite 251, Radford, Va. 24141. Friends may call anytime after noon on Sunday and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, SW, Blacksburg.
