Raymond Alex Sheppard, 89, of Christiansburg, Va., died Tuesday, November 23, 2010, at Montgomery Regional Hospital. He was born in Pulaski County, Va., on June 13, 1921, to the late Harvey Lee and Mattie Jane Rucker Sheppard. He was preceded in death by a son, Wayne Alexander Sheppard; four sisters; and five brothers. He is survived by his wife, Claramont Sheppard, of Christiansburg; daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Walter Boykin, of Wilson, N.C., Cheryl and Charles Shedd, of Aransaspass, Texas, and Debbie Adams, of Blacksburg; sons, Ray Sheppard and companion, Mary Phillips, of Christiansburg, and Darrell Winston Sheppard and companion, Tina Landrum, of Williamsburg, Va.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Randolph and Elsie Sheppard, of Vicker, and Buddy and Violet Sheppard, of Christiansburg; 15 grandchildren; and 27 greatgrandchildren. Funeral Services will be conducted 3 p.m. on Saturday, November 27, 2010, in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmie Lee Price officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. on Saturday prior to the service.
