Sheppard, Joan Thornton

Joan (Diana) Thornton Sheppard, age 78, of Blacksburg died, Thursday, April 15, 2021, at Lewis Gale Hospital-Montgomery. She was born in Montgomery County, Va. on July 18, 1942 to the late James Frank and Minnie Hollandsworth Thornton. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Oden Thornton, Garnett Thornton, Johnny Thornton.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Frank Sheppard, Jr., daughter, Lynn Sheppard, son, Tim Sheppard, sisters, Cleo McCoy, Carmell Miller, brother and sister-in-law, Curtiss and Barbara Thornton, several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, April 19, 2021 at 2:00 pm in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Buford Linkous officiating. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 pm Monday prior to the service.
