Sheppard, Emory Sylvester

Emory Sylvester Sheppard, 87, of Blacksburg, died Sunday, July 13, 2008, at Radford Health and Rehab Center. He was born in Montgomery County, Va., on June 16, 1921, to the late Peter Samuel and Ida Susan Elizabeth All Sheppard. He was also preceded by a sister, Cleda S. Warfe; and a brother and sister-in-law, Harman Woodston and Celestia G. Sheppard.

He was a retired employee of Virginia Tech.

He is survived by nieces and nephews, Linda Vaught, Jerry Sheppard, Lynn Sheppard, Freda Dempsey, Randolph Sheppard and Dale Warfe; and special friends, Buddy and June McCoy, H.M. (Shorty) Smith and family; and many other friends.

We would like to thank Dr. Charles Judy and the entire staff at Radford Nursing and Rehab Center for all their care of Emory.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2008, in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Arwood Vaught and Mr. Donnie Board officiating. Interment will follow in the New Mt. Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening, July 15, 2008, at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Dr., Blacksburg, Va.
