Sheppard, Dorothy Pruitt

Dorothy Cornelia Sheppard, 91 of Christiansburg, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, June 17, 2025. She was born April 28, 1934, in Marion, VA, and was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Ernest ‘Shep’ Shepard; son, Timothy ‘Dick’ Sheppard; four brothers and four sisters.

She is survived by her son, Jeffrey ‘Kenny’ Sheppard of Christiansburg; step-daughter, Linda Gail Stewart of Williamsburg; special niece, Wilma Hylton (Daryl) of Christiansburg. She is also survived by brothers, Arthur Pruitt of Conover, NC, Charlie Pruitt of Atkins, VA; sisters, Jeann Guyn of Lincolnton, GA, Monnie Barker, and Mary Ratcliff both of Marion; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors, and special friends she met while working at Imperial Reading.

Visitation will be held Friday, June 20, 2025, from noon to 1 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. Funeral Services will begin at 1 p.m. in the Chapel, with Pastor Jube Burk officiating. Entombment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude or to the Christiansburg Fire Department.
