Marie Agnes Trout Shepherd, 74, of Elliston, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, October 28, 2007 from her home.

She was preceded in death by two sons, James Stewart Shepherd, Sr., and Luther Franklin Shepherd, and one son-in-law, Russell Samuel Spangler.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, James Stewart Shepherd, Sr., 12 children and their spouses, Hobert and Betty Shepherd, Hubert Shepherd, Bertha Worth, Linda, Darlene and Bruce Hite, Betty Brandau, David Shepherd, Mary and Alvin Bryant, Lois and Nathan Dunn, Alice and Kelvin Hodge, Joe and Tina Shepherd, Tommy and Kimberly Shepherd and Timmy and Teresa Shepherd. Mrs. Shepherd is also survived by her 19 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was known to all as Maw and her love, laughter, and great cooking for everyone will be missed greatly. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m., Monday, October 29, 2007 at the Horne Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Tuesday, October 30, 2007, at the First Church of God, 650 Canaan Road, Christiansburg, with the Rev. Max D. Nichols officiating. Interment will follow in Craig County.
