Shephard, Donald Marshall

Army Retired SGM Donald Marshall Shephard, 88, of Christiansburg, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, January 15, 2021. He was born on June 3, 1932 in Merrimac, Virginia and was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers; five sisters; and a son.

He is survived by his cherished wife of 62 years, Violet; his daughter, Wilma (Daryl) of Christiansburg; granddaughter, Elizabeth (Timothy) of Vinton; grandson, Marshall; great-grandson, Shane. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors, and special friends that he met while playing music.

The family would like to thank Good Samaritan Hospice for their amazing care and request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Good Samaritan Hospice, your local animal shelter, St. Jude’s, or Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 22, 2021 from 1-2 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. Funeral Service will begin at 2 p.m. in the Chapel, with Rev. Jube Burk officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
