Lozine Irene Lowery Shelton of Pearisburg, VA passed away on Monday, February 13, 2023 at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center in Christiansburg, Virginia. She was born on October 31, 1930 in Yukon, West Virginia as the only daughter of the late Milton Baxter Lowery and Myrtle Mae VanDyke Lowery.

She was also preceded in death by her eternal companion and husband, Marce Lee Shelton of Pearisburg, Virginia; her daughter, Iris Lynn Shelton Howard of Abingdon, Virginia; grandsons, Zachary Brent Shelton of Christiansburg, Virginia, Jason Shane Benson, and David Anthony Benson of Roanoke; brothers, Joseph, George, Henry, Floyd Sam, and Howard Lowery.

Lozine lived with her now deceased husband, Marce in Pearisburg, Virginia and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, attending the New River Ward in Pembroke, Virginia. She served a two-year mission there and held numerous positions of service and callings in the Church for over seventy years. Her faith was rooted deep in her as a never-ending light, beacon, and source of truth. She never failed to bear the testimony she held dear and cherished to all who inquired concerning her absolute faith in her religion. Her life was one of selfless service, charity, and goodness to all her fellow man. She never turned one single soul away from her door. She literally raised four families and gave service and assistance to a host of others. She truly was/is a beloved daughter of our Heavenly Father.

Lozine is survived by her daughters, Sherry Lester and Jack Lafon of Riner, Virginia, and Capris (Cappy) Shelton and Walter Thompson of Pearisburg, Virginia; her son, Russ and Lisa Shelton of Christiansburg, Virginia; her grandchildren, Chris Benson, Jr., Melissa Thompson, Jamie Lester, Ragan Alexander, Chase Lester, Yvonne Shelton, Niki Kaminski, Isaac Howard, Benjamin Howard, Abram Howard, and Rachel Holloman; her great-grandchildren, Gabriel (Gabe), Ocean, and Jacob Benson, Alexis Cox, Aurora Kaminski, Conall Shelton, Coty, Christopher, Megan, Dakota, Scarlette, Phoenix, Gavin, Lucas, Ryder, Remi, and Nathan Lester, Kayla Reed, Noel, Taylor, Cruise, Scarlett, Weston, Olivia, Abigail, Lynn, and Evan Howard, Landen, Carson, and Ava Holloman; and her great-great-grandchildren, Carter, Josie, and Lance Reed, Levi and Alley Lester.

Lozine leaves a family who loves and cherishes her and to say she will be missed by them does not begin to describe their significant loss.

The funeral will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Pembroke, Virginia on Friday, February 17, 2023 at 11:00 AM. Funeral services will conclude with a dedication of the grave where she will laid to rest beside of her husband at Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg, Virginia. There will be a time of visitation with closed coffin, with the family at the church, on Friday, February 17, 2023 from 10:00 AM until 10:50 AM.
