Shelton, John Allen

John Allen Shelton, 81, passed away peacefully at his home May 8, 2016, with his loving family by his side. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Charlotte Shelton; one brother, Robert Shelton; and two sisters, Juanita and Bernadine Shelton.

Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Ina Shanklin Shelton; two sons and daughters-in-law; Mark and Cindy Shelton, and Charles and Tracy Shelton; and two special grandsons, Hunter Shelton and Micah Shelton; three sisters and brother-in-law, Ruby and Ted Spradling, Peggy and David Lancaster and Marie Brown; and numerous nieces and nephews.

John was a veteran of the United States Airforce and he retired from Alliant Tech Systems with 37 years of service. John was a member of Cambria Baptist Church for 70 years where he served in many ways, especially helping with food baskets for those in need.

We want to thank all his friends for their love and prayers, also especially our special friends, Jim and Eva Woolwine.

The family will be receiving friends 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Horne Funeral Home. Flowers are welcome or if you like you can make a contribution to Cambria Baptist Church, 1310 Cambria St. NE, Christiansburg, VA 24073.

In his loving memory a Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday at Cambria Baptist Church with the Rev. Keith Crowgey and Dr. Tom Harvey officiating.
