Paul Clifford Shelor, 84, of Dublin, Va., died Tuesday, September 7, 2010, at his residence. He was born September 27, 1925, in Patrick County, Va., and was the son of the late Clarice Blackard Shelor and Jesse J. Shelor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Joe; and a sister, Becky Wood.

He was a long-time and faithful member of the Dublin United Methodist Church since 1964. He was chairman of the building committee when the new sanctuary was built. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Marine Corps. He graduated from VPI and SU in Civil Engineering, and worked for Dobyns, Inc. from 1963 to 1975. He then worked as a general contractor for Debusk and Shelor, Inc., then continued as Shelor, Inc. General Contractors until 2009. Paul was also a member of the Pulaski County School Board for 12 years.

He is survived by his loving wife, Helen Scott Shelor, of Dublin; children, Jesse Shelor and his wife, Cathie, of Roanoke, Susan Shelor Deck, of Stephens City, the Rev. Don Shelor and his wife, Terri, of Dublin, and Patrick Shelor, of Dublin; brother, James Shelor and his wife, Glenna, of Stuart; sisters, Alda Stanley, of Stuart, and Lucille Shough, of Stuart; good friend, J. Robert (Bob) Dobyns, of Roanoke; and grandchildren, Joseph Deck, and Bradley Deck, both of Stephens City, Katie Shelor, of Roanoke, Beth Shelor, of Dublin, and Logan Shelor, of Dublin.

Funeral Services will be held 7:30 p.m. on Thursday evening, September 9, 2010, at the Dublin United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bill Rowland officiating. A Graveside Service will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, September 10, 2010, at the Meadows of Dan Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday at the church from 5 until the 7:30 p.m. service time.
