Nancy Proffit Shelor, born April 11, 1920 died January 15, 2022 age 101. Nancy was the third of five daughters of Winston Kelly Proffit and Esther Brame. Nancy was born and raised in Floyd, Virginia, her home for life. She attended Mary Baldwin College.

Nancy and her husband William Henry Shelor, who predeceased her, had three children; Anne Shelor Hubbard, Rebecca Dudley Shelor, and William Henry Shelor, Jr. She was graced with seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

The Shelor family members were active in the Floyd Presbyterian Church where Nancy taught Sunday school. She was a founding member of the Floyd Woman’s Club and also belonged to the D.A.R. Nancy was committed to the Floyd Community and took part in Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts and occasionally was a substitute teacher at Floyd High School. She and Bill loved to entertain friends and family and they also enjoyed travel.

Graveside services will be conducted at a later date.
