Guy French (Dude, Jim, Jimmy) Shelor, 81, of Blacksburg, moved to his heavenly home Friday, July 10, 2015, at Lewis Gale Hospital-Montgomery with his family by his side. He was born in Montgomery County November 28, 1933, to the late Samuel Arthur and Effie Wade Hughes Shelor.

He was preceded in death by seven sisters and brothers, Laura Lou Price, Mrs. Rudolph (Virginia) Bowyer, Charlotte E. Olinger, Josephine Barger, Jessie M. Shelor, Julius O. Shelor, Franklin Shelor.

Guy was a butcher for Radford Brothers for many years and then Wade’s Supermarket. He was a member of Blacksburg First Wesleyan Church, and most recently became a member of Blacksburg Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Janice H. Shelor; his son, Guy Steven Shelor, Christiansburg, his granddaughter (adopted as his daughter), Stevee Sue Shelor Linkous and husband, Jarred, Christiansburg; two sisters, Mary Adams, Arcata, Calif., Betty Bogert, Wickliffe, Ohio; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Marita and Leonard Graham, Radford, Arlene Garnand, Vinton, Esther Hoover, Levittown, Pa.; brother-in-law, Darrell Hoover, Radford; favorite nephew, Robert W. Garnand, Vinton, numerous nieces and nephews; special friends, Bill and Lois Wade, Ralph and Joann Miller, Esley N. Dillon, and Loving Pastor, Gary McCoy.

Per Guy’s request the family will receive friends Monday, July 13, 2015, at Blacksburg Christian Church from 11 a.m. to noon followed by a special song by longtime friend, Lois Wade. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Blacksburg Christian Church, 240 Watson Avenue, Blacksburg, VA 24060.
