Shaver, William Harold

William Harold Shaver, 92, of Bishop Road in Blacksburg, departed this life Tuesday evening, July 22, 2008, at his home.

Born in Pembroke on November 29, 1915, he was a son of the late Robert and Laura Hutchison Shaver. He provided for his family by farming and hard labor.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Phoebe Merrix Shaver; his daughter, Paulette S. Kinsley; his sister, Lottie Shaver; and his brothers, Robert, Clyde, Raymond and James Shaver. He leaves to cherish his memory a son, Gairey Shafer, of Blacksburg; his daughters, Joyce “Jackie” Shaver, of Blacksburg, and Charlotte S. Albert, of Pulaski; his son-in-law, Gary Kinsley, of Christiansburg; his granddaughter and her husband, Carrie Ann and Richard Hawks, of Dublin; his brothers, Bobby Gene Shaver, of Christiansburg, Ronald Shaver, of Roanoke, and Lee Shaver, of Elliston; his sisters, Edith S. Williams, of Pearisburg, and Betty S. Mahaffey, of Pearisburg.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, July 25, 2008, in The Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke with burial following in the Fillinger Cemetery at Pembroke.
