Shark, Melvin Baby

Melvin Baby Shark, 78, of Blacksburg, Va., began walking the streets of gold on Wednesday, February 24, 2010. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Grover Shark; and brother, Clarence Shark. He was an Army and Korean War Veteran with a Bronze Star, three Purple Hearts, Korean Service Medal with one star and CIB. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Lois M. Shark; son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Lisa Shark, of Riner, Va.; special children, Judy and Davey Collins, of Blacksburg, Va., and Kimberly Pearman, of Blacksburg, Va.; grandchildren, Chelsea and Harley Akers, of Riner, Va.; sister, Pearlie Lovern, of Dublin, Va.; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, February 26, 2010, at the Horne Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 27, 2010, at the Horne Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jerry Otey officiating. Interment will follow at the Memorial Gardens of the New River Valley, Blacksburg, Va. The Shark family is being served by Horne Funeral Service.
