Shannon, John W.

John William Shannon, 45, of Narrows, Va. went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 3, 2007 at Carilion Giles Memorial Hospital in Pearisburg.

A lifelong resident of Giles County, he was born on April 2, 1962 and was the son of Betty Jean Clemons Shannon and the late Carl Howard Shannon. John loved fishing, a good joke, and spending time with his brother, Jimmy, along with his beloved dog, Sugar.

He is survived by a brother, Herbert James (Jimmy) Shannon; two sisters, Ethel Shannon and companion, Averial Ferrell, Ester Shannon and companion, Paul Blankenship, all of Narrows; nieces and nephews, Jessica Shannon Ferrell, Crystal Ferrell, Rachel McAllister, Hope McAllister, Jennifer McAllister, Louise Shannon, and Carl Douglas McAllister; two aunts, Frances Clemons Parcell and husband, Phillip, of Rich Creek, and Evelyn Clemons Reedy and husband, Chuck, of Advance, N.C.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 7, 2007 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Riffe’s Funeral Service in Narrows with David Blankenship officiating. Burial will follow in the Clemons Cemetery at Elgood, W.Va. The family will receive friends at Riffe’s Funeral Service on Saturday, October 6, 2007 from 6 to 8 p.m.
