Shafer, Gairey Marcen

Gairey Marcen Shafer, age 75, of Blacksburg died Wednesday, February 3, 2021. He was born in Giles County, Virginia on May 14, 1945 to the late William Harold and Phoebe Merrix Shaver. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Paulette S. Kinsley and Joyce J. Shaver.

Gairey was a veteran of the U. S. Army.

He was survived by his sister, Charlotte Ann Albert; niece, Carrie Ann Hawks and husband, Richard; a great niece, Deanna Hawks; special friend, Larry R. Cook; and numerous other family relatives.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 6, 2021 at 11:00 am in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Neal Turner officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Gardens of the New River Valley. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until service time at McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
