Semones, Roger Brown

Roger Brown Semones, 85, of Christiansburg, died on Sunday, August 10, 2014, at Lewis Gale Hospital-Montgomery. He was born in New River, Va., on January 3, 1929, to the late Ezra and Sylvia Hurt Semones and preceded in death by a daughter, Sylvia Katherine Viers.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy D. Semones; daughters and sons-in-law, Theresa and Dwight Sechrist, of Mt. Airy, N.C., Deloris and Kenneth Shumate, of Dobson, N.C.., and Lesa and Ronald Sizemore, of Mt. Airy, N.C.; son and daughter-in-law, William Eugene and Pam Rutherford, of Cana, Va.; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Martha Marie and Buddy Lytton, of Dry Valley, Va., Susie and Cecil Lytton, of Fairlawn, and Frances and Roger Wade, of Christiansburg; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to express special thanks to Dr. Harry McCoy and his staff, as well as the 2nd Floor Nursing Staff at Lewis Gale Hospital-Montgomery, especially Gretchen. Also a special thanks goes to special friends, neighbors and co workers who helped Roger through his illness.

Memorial Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2014, in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dwight Sechrist officiating.
