Sears, Lester D.

Lester D. Sears, 70, of Rich Creek, VA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 15, 2019, doing what he loved to be doing best, playing music at the Yee Haw Festival in Okeechobee, FL. Born November 21, 1948, in Zanesville, OH, he was the son of the late Kenton and Mamie Sears. Lester was an Amateur Radio Operator with the call letters of K4HYE, a member of John Dove Lodge #78 A.F. & A.M. where he served as Past Master and Secretary, a member of the Keeping Time Band, and hosted a Bluegrass time show on the web with the Bluegrassjamboree.com.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Gladys M. Sears. He is survived by 5 stepchildren; Paul D. R. Miller, Jr. and wife Jody of Waldorf, MD, Rick Miller and wife Karen of Berea, KY, Erlonda Miller Hunter and husband Pewee of Elgood, WV, Greg Miller and wife Dorie of Burlington, NC, and Theresa Miller Salyer and husband Nelson of Castlewood, VA; one son, Lester Ray Sears of Mt. Juliet, TN, and one daughter, Tamera Green and husband Ricky of Rich Creek, VA. He is also survived by 2 brothers; Kester Sears and wife Cathie of NY, and Russell Sears of WV; 2 sisters, Birdie Heidemann of FL, and Brenda McElroy of WV; 16 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Also surviving, some special Aunts and Uncles, Joe Sears (Lucille), Glaydes Goodman, Dana Nottingham, Bertha Sirk, Lonnie Sanders, Laura Herold.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 22, 2019, at the Broyles Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel, Peterstown, WV, with the Pastor Ricky D. Green officiating. Burial with Masonic Graveside Rites by John Dove Lodge #78 A.F. & A.M. will follow at the Sunrise Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Rich Creek, Va.
