Scott, James David

James David (Jay) Scott, 41, of Blacksburg, Va., died on Wednesday, August 5, 2009. He was born in Anderson County, S.C., on October 24, 1967, and was preceded in death by his mother, Kathy Davis Scott; his adopted mother, Eileen Lesko Scott; his grandfather, J.C. Davis; and paternal grandparents, Pete and Laura Scott.

Known to friends as Jay Bird, Jay always had a love of cooking and was positive and upbeat in his attitude.

He is survived by his father, L. David Scott, of Milford, Mass.; one son, Justin Scott, of Midland, Texas; two sisters, Jen Berry, of Annapolis, Md., and Laura Scott, of Boston, Mass.; two brothers, Matt Scott, of Seattle, Wash., and Todd Davis, of Rocky Mount; grandmother, Martha Davis, of Rocky Mount; one aunt, Victoria Scott, of Christiansburg; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2009, in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gary McCoy officiating. The interment will be private. The family will receive friends from 9 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, S.W., Blacksburg, Va.
