Mildred Branscome (Mickey) Sayers, 76, of Pulaski, Va., died early Wednesday morning, October 7, 2009, at The Beulah House, Dublin. She was born on August 20, 1933, in Carroll County, Va., and was the daughter of the late Pearlie Mae Dalton Branscome and Robert L. Branscome.

She was an active member of the First Christian Church (D.O.C.), Pulaski where she was once active in the Mary Martha Guild, and served silently supporting her family during their endeavors in their church.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Edwin (Sandy) Sayers, of Pulaski: a son, Edwin L. (Eddie) Sayers and his wife, Tammy, of Dublin; two daughters, Sandra Stanberry and her husband, David, of Dublin, and Sherry Casteele and her husband, Jim, of Pulaski; a brother, Leonard Branscome, of Hillsville; a sister-in-law, Betty Branscome, of Hillsville; four grandchildren, Sarah Benton and her husband, Bryan, of Hickory, N.C., Brent Casteele, of Pulaski, Monica Heath and her husband, Justin, of Dublin, and Zane Yopp, of Dublin; two nieces, Susan Huff, of Hillsville, and Stephanie Sharp, of Woodlawn; and very important caregivers, Barbara Martin, Sue Almarode and Juanita Green. A special thanks to the caregivers in the Agency on Aging.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2009, at the First Christian Church, 524 North Jefferson Avenue, Pulaski, with the Rev. Randy Winn and Pastor Terrie Sternberg officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin.

The family will receive friends on Friday evening, October 9, 2009, from 6 until 8 p.m. at the First Christian Church.
