Saunders, Stephen Craig

Stephen Craig Saunders, 45, of Newport, departed this life Monday, May 11, 2009 in Blacksburg. Born in Radford on March 3, 1964, he earned his living as a farmer in Craig County. He was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia (Patty) S. Broyles. He leaves to cherish his memory his parents, Minor Craig and Patricia Grubb Saunders, of Newport; a special niece and her husband, Valarie B. and Eddie Lane, of Newport; a special nephew, Benjamin Michael Broyles, of Roanoke; a great-niece, Jadelynn Lane and a great-nephew, Ethan Greer; a brother-in-law ,John Broyles. Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at the Williams Cemetery at Level Green in Craig County. The family will receive friends at the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke, Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to The Newport Rescue Squad.
