Saunders, Helen Perkins

Helen Perkins Saunders, 75, of Narrows, departed this life Wednesday morning, January 9, 2013 at Giles Community Hospital in Pearisburg. Born in Bland County on May 26, 1937 she was a daughter of the late Swanson and Minnie Poff Radford.

Helen attended Riverview Baptist Church in the later years of her life and was retired from VPI.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jack Perkins, her brothers William and Jack Radford, her sisters Mae Thacker and Mamie Cook and her step-father Emory Ward Conley. She leaves to cherish her memory her sons Kenneth Alderman of Hickory, NC, Eldon Alderman of Hildebrand, NC, Mark G. Perkins of Marietta, OH, and Michael Perkins of Union, SC; her six grandchildren, her two great-grandchildren; her step-daughter Joann Gunther of Lindside, WV, her step-son Marvin Perkins of Narrows, VA

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2:00 pm in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke with Pastor Shahn Wilburn officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery at Narrows.
