Richard Lewis Saulnier, 83, of George Street, Narrows, departed this life Thursday morning, June 26, 2014 at Giles Community Hospital in the loving care of Hospice, and his caregiver Donna Owens. Born in Cadillac, MI on May 24, 1931, he was a son of the late Capite and Jessie Boley Saulnier.

Richard was with Lynchburg Foundry for 30 years as a machine operator, and also over 17 years with Commonwealth Bolt. He was a devoted family man, loved his late wife, Juanita Turpin Saulnier, Richard also loved his companion and friend his Dog “Tiny”.

He leaves to cherish his memory his step-son Emory and Jean Stafford of Manassas, step-daughters, Jane Stafford of Pearisburg, Shirley Meredith of Newport, and Linda Spicer of Narrows. His numerous grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His sister Donna Merchant of Cadillac, MI and his late brothers Clifford, and Bob Sauliner. Special friends Dallas Swire and Barbara Beatty of Pembroke, and Marvin Perkins of Narrows.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 1:00 pm in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke with Pastor Gary Poff officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Narrows with military honor guard and services furnished by American Legion Posts No. 311 in Pembroke, No. 68 in Narrows, and VFW Post 6000 in Narrows. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the service.
