Santolla, Sr., William Thomas

William Thomas Santolla, Sr. “Billy”, 89, of the Hoges Chapel Community at Pembroke departed this life Thursday morning, January 30, 2014 at Carilion Giles Community Hospital in Pearisburg after a long illness. Born in Pocahontas on August 8, 1924, he was a son of the late Angelo and Martha Lewis Santolla.

He had been employed as a sheet metal mechanic in construction work, was a faithful member of Mt Lebanon United Methodist Church, and the Pembroke Ruritan Club.

He was preceded in deathby his parents, his son Bobby Santolla; his brothers Angelo, Ralph, Joe, and Gus Santolla and his sisters Martha DeHart, Marie Dennis, Tony Schweitzer, and Eleanor Santolla. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife Mary Virginia Britts Santolla; his children and their spouses W T and Linda Santolla of King, NC, Ralph and Theresa Santolla of Pembroke, and Karen Santolla of Roanoke; his 9 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren; his brother Gabriel C. Santolla of Albuquerque, NM; his sisters Rosie S. Rowe of Charleston, WV, and Elizabeth Johnson of Pearisburg.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 4:00 pm in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke with Pastor Dan Elmore officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home two hours before the services.
