Sanders, Freda Mae

Freda Mae Sanders, 71, of Ridge Road, Pembroke, departed this life Saturday, November 20, 2010 at Lewis-Gale Medical Center in Salem after a long illness. Born in Giles County on March 3, 1939, she was a daughter of the late Chapman and Edith Carter Cumbee. She was a member of Evangelistic Holiness Chapel in Pembroke and was a beloved homemaker and mother. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Luther Silas Sanders, her sister, Mary Kessinger, and her brothers, Lee, Winfred, Ronnie, and Walter Cumbee. She leaves to cherish her memory her sons, James, Alvin and Eugene Sanders, all of Pembroke; her daughters, Patricia Ann Sanders, of Radford and Rebecca Diane Sanders, of Pembroke; her eleven grandchildren; her eight great-grandchildren; her brothers, Robert Cumbee, of Pembroke and Frankie Cumbee, of Christiansburg; her sisters, Elizabeth Harless, of Bland, Georgia Hughes, of Pembroke and Sue Cumbee, of Pembroke. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. in the Kendall Funeral Home Chapel, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke, with Pastor Eddie Kendall and Pastor Merle Hedrick officiating. Burial will follow in the Fillinger Cemetery at Pembroke. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 12 until 2 p.m. before the services.
