Bittle King Sadler Jr., 88, of Pearisburg, went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 17, 2011 at Carilion Giles Community Hospital. He was born July 29, 1922 at Thessalia, Va., the son of the late Bittle King Sadler Sr and Lula Mae Harris Sadler.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives, Inez Wickline Sadler and Lillian Dawn Sadler; two sons, John Elbert King Sadler Jr. and Thomas Ballard; three brothers, Bascum, Walter Lewis and John Randolph Sadler; two sisters, Georgia Lillian Stephens and Martha Mae Sadler.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was retired from Radford Arsenal. He spent most of his childhood with a special foster mother, Otey Jane Vest.

He is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Jim Stafford, Roanoke, Donna Lynn and Marcell Martin, Pearisburg, Sharron Reed, Poplar Hill; a son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Bonnie Ballard, Rocky Mount; two daughters-in-law, Jean Moorefield Sadler, Christiansburg and Jane Ballard, Boones Mills; one brother and sisters-in-law, Charles Henry and Fredia Sadler, Pulaski, Sylvia Sadler, Dublin, Susie Sadler, Pembroke; three sisters and brother-in-law, Rhoda Ellen Stephens, Eggleston, Josephine Johnston, Pembroke, Alice Jane and R.B. Hamblin, Pembroke; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; special friend and care giver, Mary Walters.

Funeral services will be Monday, June 20, 2011 at 7 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Pembroke with Bishop Gary Scott officiating. Burial will be on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Sadler Cemetery, Poplar Hill. The visitation will be Monday at the church from 4 to 7 p.m. prior to service at 7 p.m.

The family extends their love and gratitude to the family of Marcell, Donna, Logan, Tanner and Reasan Martin for the loving care and attention they gave our father over the past three years as he made his home there with them.
