David ‘Dave’ Strother Rowe, 71, of Blacksburg, VA checked out of this life to meet the Lord on January 24, 2023.

He leaves behind to cherish his memories his beloved daughters Kristen and Stephanie; his grandpets Sofie, Cleo, and Cooper; and the remaining members of the Three Musketeers, brother Stephen, and sister Ellen along with her husband Chico. He will also be deeply missed by countless others, including close family friend Tina Sikkenga. His welcoming party in Heaven includes parents Bill and Betty, sister-in-law Karen, and best friend Smoky.

Born in the Nation’s capital in May 1951, Dave and his family moved to Eggleston, VA in 1958 – igniting his passionate appreciation for the temperate climate and natural beauty of the Blue Ridge mountains. His varied career centered around serving others from the time he took over his father’s Pepperidge Farm distribution business to his graduation from the NRVCC Nursing Program in 2007. His passion to care for others ultimately led him to a fulfilling career as a case manager for the Bridge Program at NRVCS, from which he retired in 2016. Dave would argue that his most favorite and rewarding career was being a loving father to his two precious girls. His steadfast passion for justice, generous heart, gentle spirit and wry sense of humor will be fondly remembered by all those who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you honor Dave’s memory by doing an act of kindness for someone, donating to charity, or volunteering. Suggested local charities include New River Valley Community Services and Montgomery County Animal Care and Adoption Center.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
