Rouse, Virginia Alice

Virginia Alice Rouse, 91, died March 27, 2010, in Aiken, S.C. A former resident of Radford, Va., Virginia was born in Welch, W.Va. on the 31st of January, 1919. She attended public schools in West Virginia, Tennessee, Missouri and Virginia, graduating in 1936 from Glade Springs Virginia High School. She attended Virginia Intermont College, Bristol, Va. She received degrees in Music and Violin from Florida State University. She played Violin and Viola with the Atlanta Georgia Symphony and the Richmond Virginia Symphony. She was a member of the Fairlawn Presbyterian Church, as were her parents, Benjamin P. Rouse, Sr. and Mary Jane Rouse. She is survived her brother, Benjamin P. Rouse, Jr.; and cousins, Mrs. Margaret Sowder, of Lynchburg, Va., Mr. and Mrs. David Thorne, of Hillsville, Va., and Mrs. Betty Dunfee, of Huntington, W.Va. Funeral services will be held, 11 a.m. Wednesday March 31, 2010 at Fairlawn Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Terry Woodard officiating. Interment will follow in the Highland Memorial Gardens.
