The Rev. Dr. James Carl Rouintree, 88, of Riverbend Road, Pearisburg, Va., departed this life for his heavenly home while at church on Wednesday evening, January 19, 2011. Born in West Plains, Mo., on December 26, 1922, he was a son of the late Joe and Bessie Spears Rouintree.

Pastor Rouintree served his Lord as a minister of The Gospel for over 50 years; the last 10 years of his ministry being in Pearisburg Christ Fellowship in Pearisburg, Va. He completed his undergraduate work in Springfield, Mo., and earned his Doctorate at Eden Seminary in St. Louis, Mo. He was a veteran of the United States Army, World War II.

He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 61 years, Blanche Squires Rouintree; his son and daughter-in-law, Joe Kenneth and Louise Rouintree, of Oilton, Okla.; his daughter and son-in-law, Carla Sue and Michael Hubbard, of Spring Lake, Mich.; his grandchildren, Nicole Morgan, Jeremy Rouintree, Candace Harvey, Jordan Rouintree, Andrew Hubbard and Peter Hubbard; his seven great-grandchildren; and his stepsister, Marilyn Smith, of Anderson, Ind.

A visitation time will be open to the public on Sunday, January 23, 2011, from 4 until 6 p.m. at Pearisburg Christ Fellowship Church where his body will lie-in-state. The family will receive friends at the church on Monday evening, January 24, 2011, from 5 until 7 p.m. Funeral Services will be conducted at Pearisburg Christ Fellowship Church 7 p.m. on Monday evening with Pastor Greg Cox officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Oak Lawn Cemetery in West Plains, Mo.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that contributions be made to The General Mission Fund, c/o Pearisburg Christ Fellowship, 104 Elm St., Pearisburg, Va. 24134 (These funds will be divided equally between the missions in India, Russia, Ghana, and Mexico as Pastor Rouintree had a Holy burden for the mission work.)
