Dorcas Austin Roseberry, 89, of Pulaski, Va., died on Monday morning, February 9, 2009, in Pulaski Community Hospital. She was born on June 11, 1919, in Wythe County and was the daughter of the late Elizabeth Surratt Austin and Charles Orville Austin. She was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Pulaski, where she was an active member until her recent illness. During World War II, she worked at Arlington Hall in Washington D.C., and later worked in retail. Her remaining years were spent at home raising her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Edward Roseberry. They were married July 5, 1945 and spent 61 wonderful years together until his death in 2006. Also preceding her were four brothers, Joseph Warren Austin, Earl Lester Austin, Herbert Wayne Austin and Fred S. Austin. She is survived by her daughter, Jan Roseberry Butcher and her husband, J. Jeffrey, of Stephens City, Va.; a sister, Clara A. McConnell, of Pulaski; a brother, Ray Rudolph Austin and his wife, Betty, of Martinsville; and two grandchildren, James Bennett Butcher, of Reston, and Laura Elizabeth Butcher, of Stephens City. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 12, 2009, at the First Christian Church with the Rev. Randy Winn and the Rev. J. Jeffrey Butcher officiating. Entombment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 11, 2009, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Thomas M. Seagle & Sons in Pulaski.
