rorrer marion welcherMarion Jeanette Welcher Rorrer, 70, of Elliston, was born on December 18, 1941, in Botetourt County. She died on Thursday, June 28, 2012, with her loving family around her. She was owner and operator of Sun Star Ceramics, ran Blue Jay Restaurant, and was caregiver for 22 years for her brother, Joe. Preceding her in death were her loving parents, Mabel Marie Harris Welcher and James Paul Welcher; and brothers, Nash Randolph and Thomas Dale Welcher. Her surviving family includes her children, Connie DeJarnette and husband, LeRoy, Corky Perdue, and Sallie Smith and husband, Melvin; brothers, David Welcher and wife, Martha, and Joseph P. Welcher; sisters, Brenda Dickerson and husband, Claude, and Debbie Kanode and husband, Glenn; grandchildren, Jason Perdue, Devon DeJarnette, Jodi Wilcher, Joshua Smith, Randall Jessee, Alan Hartless, Anthony Hartless, and Ashley McCoy; great-grandchildren, Gabriel Smith, Lydia Hartless, Jaycee Hartless, Jenna Hartless, and Ryan Hartless; aunt, Vera Welcher; uncle, Max Harris and wife, Chris; and numerous loving nieces, nephews, and friends. The family sends special thanks for the loving nursing care provided by Alan Hartless and Good Samaritan Hospice of the New River Valley. A Celebration of Jeanette’s Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 30, 2012, in the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel in Salem with Mr. Alan Hartless officiating. A period of visitation will take place 30 minutes prior to the service.
