Roop, Wanda Whitt

Wanda Jelene Whitt Roop, 75, formerly of Pulaski, died peacefully in Daytona Beach, Fla. Friday, Jan. 7, 2011. She had suffered with Alzheimer’s disease for many years.

She was born July 2, 1935 in Pulaski and was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Linzie C. Roop, in 2000. Wanda remained in Pulaski and worked for 48 years at Glenn Insurance Agency. Before her illness, she was a faithful member of New River Valley Baptist Church.

Surviving are her daughters, Shaunda Roop Graham and her husband, Neville, of Daytona Beach, Fla., and Rhonda J. Roop of Pulaski; two grandchildren, Laikin Barnes and Paige Roop of Pulaski; and brothers, Randolph Whitt and his wife, Jeanie, and Garnett B. Whitt Jr. and his wife, Judy.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, Jan. 18, at 11 a.m. at Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin. Visitation will be Monday, Jan. 17, at Stevens Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials in her memory to be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association.
