Roop, Marvin Ray

Marvin Ray Roop, 83, of Radford, went to be with the Lord on July 25, 2012. He was born to the late Emmett and Mary Thompson Roop. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Dowdy Roop; and sons, Jerry and Jackie Roop.

He is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmie and Teresa Roop, of Christiansburg, Larry and Sharon Roop, of Radford; daughter-in-law, Sandy Roop of Mt. Airy, N.C.; one brother, Claude (Bud) Roop; two sisters, Ruby Morris and Nelly Keen; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; special sister-in-law, Nancy Carol; special friends, Walter and Ann Stultz.

Marvin had many family members and friends who loved him. His life was working on the farm and helping his friends but most of all he loved his family. We will miss him dearly.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday, July 30, 2012, in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wallace Yopp and Mr. Rudolph Shelburne officiating. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, SW, Blacksburg.
