Robinson, Christine Davis
1929 ~ 2011 Christine Davis Robinson, a long-time resident of Montgomery County, died on Thursday, March 31, 2011. Born in 1929, in Pearisburg, Va., Christine lived an energetic life and worked actively up until the last few months while fighting her illnesses. Staying busy and productive was a passion for Christine, and she worked many positions during her life, including jobs at Hercules, Avtex Fibers, and most recently at the Christiansburg Senior Center. Christine loved to be “on the go” and in her golden years was very involved with senior bus tours all over the United States. Her favorite stopping place was Atlantic City, N.J., and she had many wonderful stories of trips there with friends. She had a “can do” attitude about life and was always a dedicated caregiver to other family members. Christine was at her best when with other people and especially loved serving her family and fixing food for friends at gatherings. Christine’s model of courage and tenacity in battling her illnesses earned her the nickname “The Energizer Bunny” and she will forever serve as an inspiring role model of how to fight a courageous battle and never give up in spite of the many hardships that may come along in life. Christine was a member of Faith Christian Church of Christ in Christiansburg, and maintained a strong and unwavering faith in the Lord up until the very end. Christine is survived by her daughter, Margaret Stewart, of Christiansburg, Va., and special friend, Neil Schmidt; son, Thomas Robinson Jr. and his wife, Linda, of Raleigh, N.C.; three grandchildren, Lori Ballard Furrow and husband, Joe, of Christiansburg, Christopher Robinson, of New York, N.Y., and Carter Robinson, of Raleigh, N.C.; two great-grandchildren, Sarah and Camden Furrow, of Christiansburg, Va.; sister, Loretta Compton (Bob), of Pearisburg, Va.; brother, T.C. Davis (Betty), of Auburn, Ala.; as well as three nephews, Bobby Compton, and Derrick and Kermit Davis. Christine’s husband, Thomas Robinson Sr., preceded her in death in 1984. Visitation is on Saturday, April 2, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home in Christiansburg. A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, April 3, 2011, at Horne Funeral Home.
