Roberts, Sarah Sprague

Sarah Elizabeth Sprague Roberts, 28, of Auburn, Alabama formerly of Blacksburg, died unexpectedly on October 20, 2014.

She is survived by the love of her life, her husband Kenneth Roberts; mother, Patty Chitwood of Blacksburg; father and step-mother, Dennis and Cindy Sprague of Newport; brother, Colin Sprague of Blacksburg; sister, Emily Sprague and her fiancé Joel Zimmer of Brooklyn, NY; step-brother and sister-in-law Jason and Heather Alvarez of Portland, Maine. Surviving also are Sarah’s father-in-law, Keith Roberts and Debbie Burke of Stephenson, Va; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law John and Natasha Roberts of Winchester, Va, and Drew and Karen Stogsdill of Stephens City, Va. Surviving grandparents are Ruth Anne Chitwood of Wytheville, Va, and Donald and Margaret Sprague of Mankato, Minnesota. Sarah also has numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephew and cousins. Sarah was predeceased by her mother-in-law Joyce Roberts of Stephenson, Va, and grandfather Dr. W. R. Chitwood of Wytheville, Va.

Sarah graduated from Blacksburg High School in 2004 and from James Madison University in 2006. Sarah was in her 4th year at Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine and was to graduate in May 2015, to practice small animal veterinary medicine. Sarah loved and took care of all types of animals from an early age and leaves behind her very special dog Lilly and cat Lexi.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm on Friday, October 24th at McCoy Funeral Home in Blacksburg, Va., and a celebration of her life will be held there at 11 am on Saturday, October 25th.
