Roberts, Nadine Wallen

Nadine Wallen Roberts, 83, of Blacksburg, Va., died on Monday, March 22, 2010, at Montgomery Regional Hospital. She was born in Norton, Va., on December 13, 1926, to the late Roy and Mabel Rutherford Wallen. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Karen Ruth Roberts. She taught for over 25 years at Margaret Beeks Elementary School in Blacksburg. She was also a member of Alleghany Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening and playing bridge. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Faye Tara and Dan Whitmire, of Evans, Ga.; sons and daughters-in-law, Lee and Patti Roberts, and Cliff Roberts, all of Blacksburg; grandchildren, Chris and Rachel Roberts, Mandy Whitmire, and Walter Whitmire; brother, John Euell Wallen, of Strawberry, Ariz.; nephew, Michael Wallen and wife, Jeanne, of Gilbert, Ariz.; and special friend, Jean Benoit. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 25, 2010, in the Alleghany Baptist Church with the Pastor Alpheus Atkins officiating. Interment will follow in the Westview Cemetery, Blacksburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alleghany Baptist Church, 416 Alleghany St., SE, Blacksburg, Va. 24060. Friends may call any time after noon on Wednesday, March 24, 2010, and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, SW, Blacksburg, Va.
