Elizabeth Stevens Roberson, 66, of Blacksburg, died Thursday, June 14, 2012, at Lewis Gale Hospital-Montgomery. She was born in Roseland, Va. on August 12, 1945 to the late Richard Frederick and Hettie Jones Stevens. She was also preceded in death by her uncle and aunt, James William and Frances Shelton Stevens.

Liz is survived by her husband, David Gray Roberson Sr., of Blacksburg; son, David Gray Roberson Jr. and wife, Shannon (Ripley), of Blacksburg; daughter, Amy Roberson Lefkowitz and husband, David, of Richmond; brother and sister-in-law, John Frederick and Patricia Dickie Stevens, of Roseland; grandchildren, David Samuel Lefkowitz, Ella Rebecca Lefkowitz, Hettie Grace Roberson, Abigail Scott Roberson, and Sarah Frances Roberson; two special nieces, Angie Stevens Boyd and Cathy Stevens Parrish and their families; brother-in-law, Joel William Roberson and wife, Carol; and many dear friends.

Liz graduated from James Madison University in 1966. She touched the lives of hundreds of children during her years as an elementary school teacher. In the 16 years before she retired, she served as administrative assistant to three deans of the College of Architecture and Urban Studies at Virginia Tech. Most recently, she devoted her energy to making memories with her precious grandchildren.

Liz’s family would like to thank the numerous medical professionals who cared for her over the past 2½ years, and specifically the doctors, nurses and staff at Lewis Gale Hospital-Montgomery who offered such compassionate care over the past few weeks.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, June 18, 2012 at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, SW, Blacksburg. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jeff Dorsey officiating. Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Bethlehem United Methodist Church cemetery in Roseland.
