Robbins, Ronnie Hughes

Ronnie Hughes Robbins, of Rich Creek, VA passed away peacefully on March 5, 2024, at the age of 70 in Roanoke, VA. Ronnie was born on August 4, 1953, in the small town of Pearisburg, VA, and was a man of unwavering faith and boundless love for his family, his country, and the great outdoors.

Ronnie’s life was a testament to the strength and resilience of the human spirit. Raised by his devoted grandparents, Annie and William Robbins, along with their children, he learned the values of hard work, dedication, and the importance of family. Although Ronnie was preceded in death by his grandparents, their legacy lived on through him.  He is also preceded in death by the children of those special grandparents.

He shared 47 beautiful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Vicky Ramos Robbins. Together, they raised their daughter, Crystal, who, alongside her husband Haven Dobbins, gave Ronnie the joy of becoming a grandfather to Levi Dobbins. Ronnie’s love for his family was immense, and he took particular delight in spending special moments with his grandson, passing on his passion for life and the lessons he had learned.

Ronnie’s love extended to his pets, Sassy, Saddie, and Chloe, who were more than companions; they were part of the family. His siblings that he was raised with, Pansy Morris and Curtis Robbins, shared in the rich tapestry of Ronnie’s life, creating memories that would last a lifetime. He also held a special place in his heart for his “nieces,” Lynn and Leigh, who brought additional joy and laughter to his days.

A patriot at heart, Ronnie proudly served his country in the Army before embarking on a career as a machine operator at Commonwealth Bolt. His commitment to his work was matched only by his dedication to his faith. Ronnie was a man who lived to serve God, maintaining a prayer and faith journal that was a source of comfort and guidance to him and an inspiration to others.

Ronnie’s interests were as varied as they were passionate. He was an outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish, and camp, reveling in the beauty of nature and the simplicity of a life well-lived. His adventurous spirit found joy in the thrill of playing video games and the creativity of building with Legos. These hobbies provided not only personal enjoyment but also opportunities to connect with younger generations and share his zest for life.

Described by those who knew him best as faith-filled, Ronnie’s presence was a beacon of light and hope. His unwavering belief in the power of prayer and the strength of the human spirit was an inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing him. Ronnie’s ability to find joy in the everyday and to face challenges with a heart full of faith will be remembered and cherished by all.
