Riffey, Lorenza John

Lorenza “John” Riffey, 93 of Dearborn, MI, formerly of Dublin, VA, passed away on June 08, 2022 at home surrounded by his family. John was born on August 20, 1928 to William Ernest and Grace Elkins Riffey in Bland, VA.

He attended Pulaski High School before entering the U.S. Army where he served in WWII and Korea. After military service John moved to Detroit, MI where he met and married his loving wife, Joyce Woodson Riffey.

He was the beloved husband of the late Joyce Riffey, loving father of Denise (Dave), Connie (Gary), Brenda (Ron) John (Olivier), and Pam (Tim); loving grandfather of eight and great grandfather of six. Dear brother of Vivian (Raymond) Riggs and sister-in-law, Jody Riffey. John is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to his loving wife, Joyce Riffey, John was preceded in death by his parents William and Grace Riffey, sister Jean, brother-in-law Bob Bailey, his brother William E. Riffey, Jr., nephews Dan Riggs and Shaun Riffey, and lifelong friends Jim & Helen Faulkner.

John was laid to rest with a full military service on June 13, 2022 at Michigan Memorial Park Cemetery in Flat Rock, MI. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Disabled Veteran’s National Foundation and/or the Wounded Warrior Project.
